Brúarskóli

Brúarskóli is a specialized school in Reykjavík, established in 2003 for children with serious mental health, behavioral, or social challenges. The school also serves students who are struggling with substance use and/or delinquent behavior. Brúarskóli operates five locations, with its main campus in Vesturhlíð. The school provides temporary intervention programs designed to help students successfully transition back to regular primary schools. Each student receives individualized instruction based on their interests and abilities, while developing their social and communication skills.

Enrollment fluctuates throughout the academic year and from year to year, with approximately 50 students attending the school at any given time. The school's staff of about 50 includes administrators, teachers, developmental counselors, behavioral therapists, learning support assistants and psychologists.
